How to choose
Pick a name that matches your group’s energy: a number pun for the jokers, a pop-culture reference for fans, or a soft aesthetic name for a calm, cute chat. If someone new joins, a number name is easy to update — “Core Four” can become “High Five”.

Why number names are so popular
Names that celebrate how many members you have are popular because they are instantly understood and feel exclusive. “The Trio” or “Core Four” says that this is a close group, not a random chat with forty people. They also borrow from pop culture — musketeers, fantastic fours, famous fives — which makes them easy to remember.

Picking a name everyone likes
In small groups, every opinion counts. A fair way to choose is to let each member suggest two names, remove anything that someone dislikes, and vote on the rest. Inside jokes from a trip, a funny moment or a shared hobby make the strongest names because they belong only to your group.
If your group changes size, update the name. “Three’s Company” can become “Fantastic Four” when someone new joins — a small gesture that makes the new member feel welcome.
